Things to do in Juan Fernández Islands
670 km off the coast lies the island where the castaway who inspired Robinson Crusoe lived. A National Park and Biosphere Reserve, it shelters species found nowhere else, such as the Juan Fernández firecrown, diving among fur seals and Chile’s finest lobster.

How to get to Juan Fernández Islands
The journey is part of the adventure:
- Light aircraft from Santiago: about 2 hours to the airstrip at the western tip of Robinson Crusoe Island, then roughly an hour and a half by boat to the village of San Juan Bautista. Flights depend on the weather and may be delayed.
- Ship from Valparaíso: some cargo ships take passengers, about 2 days at sea, with few sailings a month.
Leave a few spare days in your plans and book accommodation before arriving.
