– Caves (3 hours). Not suitable for people with claustrophobia.

On the caves route, you will visit Ana Kakenga and Ana Te Pahu, two unique sites where you can explore volcanic lava tubes that form kilometers of underground caverns. Ana Kakenga is notable for being a subterranean cave with two tunnels that open onto a cliff overlooking the sea. Ana Te Pahu is a larger cave located in the interior of the Roiho sector, which also served as a refuge for the Rapa Nui people during the period of enslavement. Inside, you can see remains of ancient kitchens, cultivation areas, and petroglyphs. This horseback ride ends at Ahu Akivi, a platform with seven restored moai of great importance for astronomical navigation, and unique for being the only moai that face the coast.

– Ascent to Maunga Terevaka volcano (3 hours). Suitable for the whole family.

Ride to the highest point of Rapa Nui, Maunga Terevaka, on an enjoyable horseback excursion. Take in the views, nature, and close contact with these noble animals that make for a truly unique experience. After approximately two hours of ascent, the peaks of Rano Aroi and Maunga Terevaka (over 500 meters above sea level) offer a panoramic view of the entire island, surrounded by the Pacific Ocean. These horseback rides are suitable for the whole family and require no prior experience, taking you to the highest point of Rapa Nui, Maunga Terevaka, with its spectacular panoramic view of the “navel of the world.”

– North coast Hanga Oteo (7 hours). Available only in private mode, please inquire for rates.

On this activity, we invite you to ride on horseback to Hanga Oteo, a place accessible only by walking or horseback riding, featuring landscapes and archaeological remains that have remained intact, making this route very different and exclusive. Along the way, you will see remains of boat-shaped houses, chicken coops, cultivation areas, moai, petroglyphs, and elevated platforms facing the ocean. You will also visit Moai a Moeto, Maitaki te Moa, Omohi, Papa Aringa o Hera Moai “Hore a Metraux,” and Haŋa o Teo, before arriving at Anakena Beach, where a transfer will be waiting to take you back to Hanga Roa. This option has an approximate duration of 6 hours.
