Details
The tour begins at Ahu Akahanga, an archaeological site featuring the remains of several platforms where, according to oral tradition, the first king of the island is believed to be buried. It is said that he chose this place after leaving his first settlement at Anakena. Next, we will visit Rano Raraku Volcano, where the majority of the moai were carved. This site is also known as “the quarry” or “the moai factory.” You will see nearly 400 statues in various stages of carving, each with different characteristics and states of preservation. From here, we continue to Ahu Tongariki, the largest ceremonial platform on the island and the one with the greatest number of restored moai.
